Spida™ Web SoftwarePartner Integration
Partner's Field Designer is an automated design tool that simplifies the staking process. In use since 1997, it allows the staking crews to efficiently view power distribution maps, create staking sketches, and retrieve any additional information needed to complete the staking job. Previous versions of this product have not included engineering tools to aid in the design process. Spida Software and Partner have teamed up to add this functionality to the 4.4 release.
The majority of the information needed to run the structural analysis comes directly from the staking units and framing standards already incorporated into the Field Designer. This means that the learning curve for using the new engineering tools is very small. The staker preforms his tasks as before but now has detailed structural analysis data to assist in the design process.
Every effort has been made to make the integration of the engineering tools as seamless as possible. Other applications that provide similar functionality are often very complex and difficult to use efficiently. They often add numerous new steps to the existiong line design process that slows the work flow. Spida Software and Partner decided early on the addition of the engineering tools should be very unintrusive, and not add complexity or slow down the staking process. The anlaysis runs behind the scenes and provides simple easy to understand ques and visulizations for displaying the results.
A quick glance at the map display shows which poles are ok structurally and which ones have loading issues. Additonal detailed information about each structure is also provided for determining what corective measure need to be taken. For example the additon of guys and anchors, or possibly the use of a larger class pole. The changes can be made in the require units and/or framing standard and instant feedback is viewable for verfing if the corective measures were effective.
